What's New in PhotoSpills 5.1
- Reposition Photos in the Collage
While customizing your collage, you can click on a photo in the preview window.
Hold the mouse button down and drag the cursor onto another photo. The two
photos will swap positions.
You can also click on a photo with the right mouse button to see a popup menu. You then can
select Remove this photo from the menu to have that photo taken out of
the group being displayed. The next selected photo will be placed
at this position.
You can also select Replace photo from the popup menu. You will then be
able to select another photo to be used for that position.
|
- Cropping photos in the design
Click on a photo with the right mouse button and select Crop from the
menu. The selected photo will be displayed in a new window with a sizing
box. You can resize that box by clicking on a corner and dragging to
make the box smaller or larger. The sizing box will be the shape needed
in the collage. You will not be able to change the shape of the box.
You can also move that box to any spot on the photo. Do this by clicking
anywhere inside the box and dragging it to the new position.
|
- Shadows in lettering
When setting up a lettering collage, you now have an option to include a drop
shadow on each letter. If you use the shadow, the Finishing Touches screen
will have options for you to set the size and color of the shadow.
|
- Changing the caption on a Trading Card
You can now change the caption of each trading card in the preview window.
Create your trading card (baseball, basketball, etc) collage like normal.
Then, find the card you want to change in the Preview Window.
Use the mouse to "right click" on the photo in that card and select "Change caption"
from the drop-down menu. You will then be prompted for the new caption.
The collage will be redrawn with the new caption and you can then change another caption.
|
- Splitting one photo into equal sized chunks
When you pick photos for your collage you can now select just one photo and have
it divided into a grid of squares. You will be given a choice of how many pieces
to create. The pieces then can be used in a collage like any other set of photos.
The original full photo is not changed.
|
- Cropping the final collage
When you use the Spill button your final collage will be displayed in a new
window. There will be a Crop button at the bottom of this window.
Click on that button and the collage will be displayed in a new window
with a sizing box. You can resize that box by clicking on a corner and
dragging to make the box smaller or larger. You can also move that box
to any spot on the photo. Do this by clicking anywhere inside the box and
dragging it to the new position.
The sizing box will initially be the shape
and dimensions of your finished collage. You can change the shape of the
box with the Portrait, Landscape, Square
and Free form radio buttons under
the collage. Once you have the sizing box positioned right, select the Ok
button. The selected area will now be your finished collage. If this isn't
what you actually want, use the Crop button again and you will start with
the original collage.
|
- Set final collage dimension (2x3, 3x4, 7.5x11)
By default, your collage will be created as a 2000x3000 pixel jpg image.
You can change that 2x3 dimension to be 3x4 or 7.5x11. This is done with the
File -> Collage size/ratio command in the main menu.
Once you select a size, that size will be used for all collages until you
change it again or until your next session of Photospills.
The software uses the original designs
for these new dimensions and stretches each of the photos to get the overall
intended size. This will cause some slight cropping of the photos.
Note: At this time, the preview window doesn't use the proper size, but the
collage design is correct. Likewise, the final collage may have a blank area
at the bottom of the collage. If so, use the "Crop" button there to grab your
correct size.
|
